After graduating from CU Boulder and starting a fast pace career in a leadership program, I was on the brink of burn out; luckily I had 3 yoga studios walking distance to home in Denver that saved me. Initially falling in love with the physical practice which taught me to quiet the internal chatter and really tune into my body, mind, and spirit.
Why do you teach & practice yoga?
I was hooked when I realized this practice has been such a gift to grow and learn daily for the last 15 years. It’s given me the tools to help minimize the stress life always manages to stir up. Yoga has truly been a practice for me, through the ebs and flows of life, career changes, moves, loves again and lost; my practice has come and gone yet I know I am mentally and physically strongest when I am connected to my yoga practice and the community it provides. Through teaching I hope to share this gift, this beautiful practice of really feeling and asking our body and mind, “how are YOU doing? What feels good in this moment?” I hope to connect to more amazing kind humans and grow the Mountain Soul Community of yogis.
Who is your greatest yoga influence or inspiration?
You are. This practice and community is; it has given me some of my closest friends, held me in my tenderest moments, and continues to teach me new lessons daily. I’m inspired and learn something from every amazing teacher I’ve taken a class from and every student I’m lucky enough to connect and practice with. It’s these lessons that influence my practice and keep me coming back to learn and grow more.
What does it mean to be a "Mountain Soul?"
I am most connected to myself and this beautiful life when I am also connected to and spend time in the outdoors. Wether I’m skiing, hiking, or sitting quietly next to a river; to me the wind (my favorite element) keeps life interesting, the light and its movement reminds me of our ever changing life, and these Mountain Souls have stayed strong throughout time, always slowly evolving. To be a Mountain Soul is to live, breath, and evolve through time; to nourish and honor the ebs and flow life; and by always growing and healing yourself the beings you connect with. At Mountain Soul Yoga we are lucky enough to absorb the mountains and all of earths elements around us as we breath, practice and grow.
Describe your favorite day.
My favorite days lately are the days I make time for me. From sitting quietly next to the Eagle River or sweating it out with a Power Flow; if I’ve made that commitment to move my body and connect to my spirit, light and mind that day; I’m happy.
